Shared Spaces - A grant funded project supported by Natural Resources Wales

"Shared Spaces" has several key elements aims to open up the accessibility of Hay town centre as well as the surrounding countryside for local people and visitors alike. We aim to improve people's health and well-being through this project, as well as supporting and enhancing the biodiversity resource of Hay-on-Wye. The main elements of "Shared Spaces" include:

  • Removal of gates/stiles to be replaced by kisssing gates;
  • Improvement to footpath surfaces;
  • Repairing minor footbridges;
  • Installation of wooden sculptures
  • Installation of interpretation boards
  • Planting trees, bulbs and wildflowers
  • Installation of electric car charging portal
  • Purchasing portable ramps for businesses in Hay to allow better access
  • Creating publicity materials, signposts, posters, flyers and on-line to make sure people are fully aware of "Shared Spaces" and all the benefits of the project
  • Creation of "Low Carbon Steering Group" to explore reducing Hay's carbon footprint

We will be sharing our Project Plan shortly
