Coronavirus & Festivals

Hay Town Council is working with both Festival organisations ( Hay Literary Festival and How the Light Gets In) as well as the Chamber of Commerce and County Council to determine the way forward in view of the current Coronavirus crisis.

What action is being taken by Hay Town Council and others

The following statement has been released by those involved.

"There have now been two constructive meetings about the CoronaVirus Covid19 situation in Hay with Trudy Stedman, Nick Burdekin and James Prothero (Hay Town Council), Powys County Councillor Gareth Ratcliffe, Mandy Houghton and Hilary Lawson (The Globe and HTLGI), Josh Green (Hay Chamber of Commerce), Andrew Williams (Hay Castle), Peter Florence and Andy Fryers (Hay Festival).
We are all taking advice from government sources and following the advice from the Chief Medical Officers of England and Wales.
We are resolved to move forwards with great care for the whole community and to explore all options to make the town accessible, safe and welcoming to all our visitors during the coming weeks and months. We will maintain regular contact and will update all our plans over the coming days. Everyone recognised the extraordinary resilience of the town that kept us all going through FMD in 2001, and the great boon of living and working here."
